An adolescent’s world can get out of line easily: A language study travel, an accident, a biology lesson. All of a sudden everything is different, friends do not understand you anymore – parents have never understood you at all. All that seemed like a given factor is not so clear any longer. I am not gay, am I? Foreigners are pigs – or are they only humans like you and I after all? These are my Mom and my Dad – or isn’t that true after all? The youngsters we meet in the 8th "youth days – International Youth Film Contest" have one question in common: who am I and where do I want to be? Whether from Venezuela, Canada, Iceland, Germany, or the USA – everyone is looking for their roots, their identity, and their place in society. The only guideline for Jess and Moss comes from a few audio tapes which is all that remains from their parents. Elizabeth seems to live in a perfectly func tioning family, until she learns that she has been adopted. From then on she not only searches for her bodily mother but also for the one thing that’s special about herself. Daniel is special as well: He could be a soccer pro but rather wants to be one thing: a faithful brother. Marisa believes to have found her way already. But to get rid of her role as a Nazi bride proves to be as difficult as finding one’s own place.

We are curious which entry will be decorated by the youth jury with the prize money of EUR 2,500.

The exground youth days will be kicked off with the 7th Wiesbaden Youth Film Contest, in which domestic up-and-coming directors will compete for the prize money of EUR 450.
