After the death of his wife in a car accident, Roberto and his daughter Alejandra set off from Vallarta for a fresh start in Mexico City. Alejandra finds her feet more easily than Roberto, but very soon she has aroused the baser instincts in her classmates. Ashamed and unable to tell her father about the escalating bullying at school, Alejandra’s silence ultimately takes a dreadful toll.
Biography: Michel Franco, born in Mexico City in 1979, started making short films after his media studies. In 2001, CUANDO SEA GRANDE, made for an anti-corruption campaign, was released in 500 cinemas all over Mexico. In 2003, ENTRE DOS won prizes at the Festivals of Huesca and Dresden. At that time, he also produced commercials and videos with his production company Pop Films. In 2009, his first feature DANIEL AND ANA was selected for the Directors’ Fortnight in Cannes. The film subsequently participated at a variety of festivals and was distributed in Mexico, Spain, France, the US etc. His second feature AFTER LUCIA also premiered in Cannes within the festival section "Un Certain Regard".
