Omar and Karina’s mother fell ill on a holiday trip to a beach resort on the Mexican Pacific coast. Without further notice, brother and sister start a 2,500 kilometers journey to their grandmother in Casas Grandes (Chihuahua), near the Mexico-USA border. They have to face a country wounded by violence, distrust, helplessness and abandon, where the only possible shelter is to stay together.

Biography: Alejandro Gerber Bicecci, born in 1977 in Mexico City, works as director, screenwriter and producer. Since 1999, he has directed some short films that won several awrds at international festivals. In 2009 he directed VAHO (BECLOUD), his first feature fiction film, which was produced among others with support from FOPROCINE, IMCINE and Hubert Bals Fund. BECLOUD had its international premiere at the Modern Art Museum of New York, and has been screened in over 20 international film festivals. A SEPARATE WIND is his second feature-length movie.
