Asal and Zoe are best friends and spend their last summer together. Asal wants to have a boyfriend and Zoe dreams of becoming a make-up artist. But in reality things are different: Zoe has to work in a grocery store for the summer, and Asal will go to secondary school in fall. The goal for their summer break is soon set: Asal has to lose her virginity, which results in a real test for the girls’ friendship.
Biography: Ivana Lalović, born in 1982 in Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, moved to Switzerland in 1991, because of the war in her home country. In 2004, she attended the film department of the Zurich University of the Arts. In 2008, she received the degree as Designer FH, in 2010 the Master degree in film – both from the Zurich University of the Arts. SITTING NEXT TO ZOE is her feature film debut.
