by Dr. des. Nana Adusei-Poku
tue 17 nov 7:00 pm Foyer Murnau Filmtheater
Photography is looking back on a long political history. What opportunities does it offer in political struggle and in expressing identities? The lecture shows, how photography was a part of creating and cementing differences – regarding ethnicity, gender or sexuality. In contrast, photographic works of the Afro American philosopher W. E. B. Du Bois, black South African Zanele Muholi and Afro German Philip Metz and Nzitu Mawakha are presented. Dr. des Nana Adusei-Poku is research professor for Cultural Diversity/Media Arts at the universities of Rotterdam and Zurich.
