Ras is a young man living in Cali. During the day he works as a construction worker, at night he sprays graffiti on the walls. One day, Ras is fired for stealing several cans of paints. With no money he wanders through the city, looking for Calvin, another graffiti artist. The two young men meander through the town and like two mushrooms they contaminate their environment with an immense sense of liberty.
"Less self-consciously 'arty' than his debut [CRAB TRAP], this is a generally appealing mix of docu-realism with impressionistic scenes (…), though its didactic passages highlighting political problems stop the action cold, and the final section throws narrative discipline out the window. Still, the mix largely works, and will see heavy traction via fest rotation." (Variety)
Biography: Oscar Ruiz Navia is a director, producer, and founder of the film production company Contravia Films. In 1982, he completed his studies in Social Communications at Universidad del Valle. In the last years, he has become one of the leading voices of the contemporary Colombian film industry. His works as director and producer have been domestically and internationally distributed, as well as selected in major festivals such as Cannes, Berlin, Toronto, Locarno, San Sebastian, and Rotterdam, among others.
