"Same procedure as every year". The GERMAN SHORT FILM CONTEST almost reminds us of the yearly re-runs of the traditional New Year’s Eve sketch "Dinner for One". As in the past years, the 16th edition of our "senior" contest again presents ten films competing for the award for the best German short film in the course of exground filmfest. If you think we planned to show exactly ten films you are mistaken: Even though we were able again to compile a varied program for our viewers, we would actually like to show even more films.
This year’s contest program presents a healthy balance between feature films and animations, between funny and contemplative films. We are especially glad that an experimental film made it into the final round for a change. After all, the name "exground" is a combination of the abbreviations for "experimental" and "underground" – and therefore it is totally appropriate to present something cumbersome instead of only light film entertainment.
The exground filmfest team already placed their bets which film will be the audience’s favorite this time.
The award ceremony takes place on Sunday, November 23, 2008, after the second screening of the contest films.
The prize money is sponsored by the Cultural Offices of the State Capital Wiesbaden and Wiesbadener Kinofestival e. V.
