In a chaotic, squalid two-storey house in inner Melbourne, a disparate group of punk, hippy and radical residents including the schizoid lead singer of the band "Dogs in Space" Sam – played by the charismatic singer of "INXS", Michael Hutchence –, his lover Anna, and excentric keyboard player Tim. Alcohol, loud music, sex, parties and reckless driving mark the lifestyles of these wayward twenty-some-things until heroin foreshadows darker times for Sam and Anna.
