A well-established program of exground filmfest is called News from Germany. In 2011, we present 13 films, all well worth seeing. Among them exciting documentaries such as CHODORKOVSKY about the formerly richest Russian and currently most famous inmate of the former Soviet Union, or the fascinating KAMPF DER KÖNIGINNEN, meaning cows in Southern Switzerland who are used in a traditional kind of martial arts. PUSHED portraits four veterans of the skateboard scene, who by now find their way successfully in their lives as grown ups, and KIEZKICK UND PUNKROCK by Wiesbaden director Tim Gorbauch is a sort of declaration of love to the "true" fans of the FC St. Pauli soccer team. With humour and sensitivity, ROMEOS tells the story of Lukas who was born in the wrong body – while TAGE DIE BLEIBEN deals with the moving story of a very plain family in mourning. TRACES OF AN ELEPHANT and LUCKY SEVEN transport us to Ireland, both dealing with the impact of the conflict in Northern Ireland. ARMADINGEN and BEREDTES SCHWEIGEN are both set in the countryside. In the first film, a farmer wants to make his wife the most beautiful day of her life, at the same time being her last. The second film shows the insolvable conflict between two sisters. Former Federal President Horst Köhler receives a FÜHRUNG, and in RANCHO TEXAS we meet Charles Bronson – at least almost! Last but not least, exground regular Jörg Buttgereit presents VIDEO NASTY, his unusual latest work. He had his audio play of the same name recorded in a theatre before an audience and then adapted it to film, re-staging a typical Italian horror movie from the 1980s.
