The title ESCAPE AND EXPULSION goes back to the unequall ed migration following World War II. Millions of people forced to escape and look for a new home. exground filmfest presents four shorts visualizing different reasons for people escaping. SILENT RIVER depicts an escape from Romania in 1986, BETWEEN HEAVEN AND EARTH the escape from brutality and poverty in Ivory Coast to Germany, both perilous odysseys. ASYLUM portrays Alfred, who managed to escape, but to little avail, as his application for asylum was turned down. Nevertheless he refuses to bury his dream of starting anew with an organic farm. HOW TO PICK BERRIES shows the absurdity of globalized economic refugees, coming each year to the North of Finland.
