The Jaffa orange from the ancient port city of Jaffa is probably the most well-known citrus fruit and a significant part of Israel’s founding myth. The documentary shows, that the Jaffa orange contains not just vitamins, but also many stories around politics, economy and manipulation, which look at ruptures and similarities of Israeli and Arab history in an unusual way. Director Eyal Sivan shows old photos, early film footage, ads and posters as well as paintings around the fruit to Palestinian and Israeli intellectuals as well as workers in the citrus industry. They recall, reflect and analyse their own history and the history of their country looking at the Jaffa orange.
