Widower Edmond (Michel Bouquet) in fact needs care because of his weak heart. But his heart stubbornly beats for his independence, which he defends persistently. No nursing home or help from his house attendant for him! He keeps resisting, but the young woman, quarreling with her own destiny, a still birth, won’t give in. One day Edmond, after a severe fall, is forced to accept Rose’s help, which also gives her spirits a boost. After all her heart is just about to recover, too.
The film goes straight to the heart, for which it won the 2011 Swiss film awards for best script and best film and in 2011 was the Swiss entry for Best Foreign-Language Film at the Academy Awards.
