For our documentary program we selected five films, among them a world
premiere, an international premiere and a German premiere, all of them
dealing – in the widest sense of the term – with strange places and
curious places. THE SAFEST NUCLEAR POWER PLANT WORLDWIDE tells us about
the odd everyday life near the most secure nuclear power plant in the
world – Zwentendorf in Austria, which never started working. DEMO_LITION shows the consequences of compacting and gentrification in urban
development. Numerous demolitions of buildings offer a show of precise
destruction, of which spectators often have a hard time taking their
eyes off. They develop a thrilling interest in negative growth. WHAT THE
CAT SEES are patients in a smokers’ area in front of a hospital. NICE
EVENING shows a night in a Berlin late-night store, and NO PROBLEMS has
young people talk about their problems, directly into the camera.
