16-year old Nana lives with her single mother and her two stepsiblings in a village near the German-Swiss border. Her family is everything but perfect: Nana is mostly on her own, working as a lock keeper she is the breadwinner and on top of that has to take care of her siblings Tatjana and Toto – and her chaotic mother Roberta, who keeps diving head over heels in ever new love adventures. One day the children decide to go looking for a good husband for Roberta and a suitable new father for themselves. The search is not that easy, especially as choice is limited in a rural area.
A comedy, full of fantasy playing with coming-of-age elements and its dramatic parts, full of humor in poignant imagery telling about a – despite all turbulences – functioning family.
