The section NEUES AUS DEUTSCHLAND [News from Germany] features the record number of twelve films: six feature films, three documentaries and three medium-length feature films. In all fictional works this year family plays a leading role. Many German acting stars will come to the exground screens: Irm Hermann, Mario Adorf, Suzanne von Borsody, Hark Bohm, Sunnyi Melles, Ulrich Noethen, Anna Thalbach, André M. Hennicke and from Wiesbaden Jasna Fritzi Bauer. TV darling Klaas Heufer-Umlauf is also present, in Rolf Roring’s DEAR COURTNEY, the story of a "Great Rock ’n’ Roll Swindle". In Bettina Blümner’s SCHERBENPARK young Sascha wants to take revenge on her step-father, who murdered her mother. In Florian Eichinger’s NORDSTRAND two brothers are to get their mother, who has killed the violent father, from prison. In his feature-length debut BLACK PANTHER – THE STORY OF EMILIE AND JACOB Samuel Perriard also tells of siblings, who after the death of their parents want to sell a holiday home in the Swiss Alps, and of their deep love for each other. In DeAD by Sven Halfar after his mother’s suicide the son searches for his biological father. Lola Randl’s lead actress Maria Kwiatkowsky died two years ago on the set of THE INVENTION OF LOVE. The director completed the film about a couple selling their love, in a mixture of original material and scenes shot later. Also a must see is CONTINUITY by video artist Omer Fast. A couple has to deal with losing their son in the German army’s Afghanistan mission. In Barbara Ott’s SUNNY young Hajo has to find work and look after his baby at the same time. TOMO by Florian Heinzen-Ziob tells of family Neumann’s house robot’s death. Tim Lienhard’s documentary ONE ZERO ONE portrays the drag queens Cybersissy and Baybjane. In OUT IN EAST BERLIN Jochen Hick and Andreas Strohfeldt trace unknown history: how did lesbians and gays live in GDR? DRAGAN WENDE by Lena Müller and Dragan von Petrovic shows the exiled Yugoslav, once king of the West Berlin underworld!
