exground filmfest 26

Rose-Lore Scholz Kulturdezernentin der Landeshauptstadt Wiesbaden On behalf of the State Capital of Wiesbaden I warmly welcome all guests of exground filmfest. I promise you: an all-round program of international format is waiting for you. The unpaid organizing team selected the best out of the more than 3,000 entries, a re- cord number, and visiting other festivals for the ten festival days in Wiesbaden. I who- leheartedly thank the organizers of exground filmfest – as well as for the strong unpaid work over many years. I am proud, that Wiesbaden with exground filmfest hosts one of the most important German festivals of international independent film. The program spreads out from the regular sections American Independents, Internati- onal and Neues aus Deutschland over the multi-fold short film programs to the compe- titions. All in all around 200 productions will be shown at Caligari FilmBühne, Murnau Filmtheater and Kulturpalast – among them many German and European premieres and even some world premieres. This year’s country in focus, New Zealand, inspires great curiosity. Rarely played clas- sics, findings from the archives as well as fresh productions will be shown. Certainly not each film shown in the upcoming ten days will be relaxing: yet no one will leave the cinema at exground filmfest without having gained new insights, strong im- pressions or surprising experience. That’s what makes exground filmfest a distinctive brand: provoking, shrill, off the beaten track, sub- and world culture. All that primes our awareness for the wealth and the problems of the worlds beyond our own world and thus broadens our scope! To the team a wonderful festival, to the audience many inspiring hours in the cinema and interesting talks with guests from all over the world.
