Unable to cope with Tomás any longer, his mother sends him to Mexico City to his brother Sombra, who lives with his colleague Santos in a run-down apartment. The two are currently striking against the strike organised by their fellow students at the university. When the three read that the famous singer Epigmenio Cruz is lying lonesome in a hospital, they set off in their old clunker. The beginning of an urban odyssey.

"The film’s social commentary unspools quietly in the background while the narrative focuses on the ennui, free-floating anxiety, and inchoate longing for meaning experienced by two or three privileged young people from the middle- to upper-middle classes (…) There’s no major dramatic climax, revelation, or emotional breakthrough (…) There’s just a good story – full of life and related with intelligence and a sense of humour." (Slant Magazine)
