Sam Lowry lives as simple civil servant in a totalitarian surveillance state, but mostly he lives in his fantasy world, where he fights dark powers as superhero. When a mistake in his department leads to an innocent person being suspected and liquidated as terrorist, Sam tries to get behind the case. Soon he finds himself entangled in criminal schemes, until he gets chased as alleged terrorist himself. pulp.noir creates from the bizarre-surreal film trip-like clips and reverses its retro-futuristic basis: while Terry Gilliam in 1985 designs a Kafkaesque vision of the future from the perspective of the 1940s – while really talking about the present – the live remix concentrates on the sound- and video-clip aesthetic of the 1980s. The shown future thus becomes the year 2014, where surveillance and bureaucracy are more topical than ever.
