25 years exground filmfest

Country in focus Greece // Cash and non cash-prizes
worth more than EUR 16,000

Renowned exground filmfest will take place for the 28th time this year, still it marks the 25th birthday. In the first years exground filmfest took place twice a year. Of the 15 still unpaid organizers three women have been on board from the start: Ulrike Hampl, Nadja Huhle and Andrea Wink have accompanied the change from wild underground event to renowned independent film festival with a unique profile over the years.

November 13–22, 2015 it'll be „Roll it!“ once more in Wiesbaden’s Caligari FilmBühne, Murnau Filmtheater and Kulturpalast. For the jubilee, Wiesbaden’s oldest film festival will once more present the highlights of current supply in independently produced short- and feature-length film. Members of the selection committee will soon make their way to the festivals in Rotterdam and Berlin to look for masterpieces fitting in exground filmfest’s program. And also round about 3,000 short- and feature-length films will arrive as entries – increasingly directors use the possibility to enter their works by uploading them on www.reelport.com.

Next to the sections American Independents, Made in Germany as well as international feature-length and short films exground filmfest 28 will showcase a number of competitions, endowed with cash and non-cash prizes of more than EUR 16,000. On top of that the organizing team will once more compile a special supply for young audiences – the 12th exground youth days with an international competition of feature-length films and the Wiesbaden Short Film Competition. A special focus this year is on fresh films from Greece – a country having to offer quite a bit in film, which rarely sees the light of German screens.

The program will again consist of roughly 250 films from all over the world. Which films will make it to the Wiesbaden screens, will be announced in early September, when the selection committee will finish their work and finalize the program of competitions and sections.

A supporting program of workshops, exhibits, concerts, parties and panels will complement exground filmfest’s film program as usual.

exground filmfest is supported by the State Capital of Wiesbaden, the Hessian Film Fund und the Hessen State Ministry of Higher Education, Research and the Arts.
