THE OVERNIGHT
by Patrick Brice
USA 2015 79 min. original version

sat 21 nov 10:00 pm Caligari FilmBühne

Script: Patrick Brice, DoP: John Guleserian, Editor: Chris Donlon, Production: Duplass Brothers Productions, Getting’ Rad Productions, Producer: Naomi Scott, Cast: Adam Scott, Taylor Schilling, Jason Schwartzman, Kyle Field, Sarah DeVincentis

Alex, Emily, and their son, RJ, have recently moved to Los Angeles’ Eastside from Seattle. Feeling lost in a new city, they are desperate to find their first new friends. After a chance meeting with Kurt they gladly agree to join family pizza night at the home. But as it gets later and the kids go to bed, the family "playdate" becomes increasingly more revealing and bizarre as the couples begin to open up.
"Whilst the couples’ adventures are laughably entertaining, it’s the performances and chemistry between Schilling, Scott, Schwartzman and Godrèche that really makes the film work. It’s obvious that the actors are (…) having the time of their lives: their expressions are genuine and gleeful and engagements harmoniously fluid. It’s an outrageously wild night in I wish I had an invite to." (The Hollywood News)
