Border river Evros, parting Turkey from Greece, marks the end of the dream of a better life in Europe for many refugees. Three people meet there: a people smuggler, a drug baron and a soldier, who volunteered to de-mining. All three are entangled in illegal business in this thrilling refugee drama. Things escalate, when the woman and the soldier fall in love with each other.
"RIVERBANKS works on several levels, deals with the refugee problem, but also – even more subtle – with Greece’s situation. It tells about high hopes, which in the end all get disappointed. The element connecting everything is love. Even not being immune against all strokes of fate, it never fades. It is eternal." (www.kino-zeit.de)
