17-year-old Naama Barash enjoys alcohol, drugs and hanging out with like-minded friends. Her activities are an escape from a home where her parents always fight, and a rebellious, army-enrolled sister, who, one day, disappears. As a new girl shows up at school, Barash falls deep in love for the first time, and the intensity of the experience at once confuses her and gives her life new meaning.
"Hebrew-spoken BARASH turns on the sexual discovery of a 17-year-old Naama, played by Sivan Noam Shimon. This unspools 'against the backdrop of her deep disappointment with her family and a society that excludes anyone or anything that is different,' said Vinik. Biography: Michal Vinik studied scriptwriting and filmmaking in Tel Aviv. Her first short film, BAIT, was presented at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival in the US. The second, SRAK, was released at the Locarno International Film Festival in 2011. Both films bagged awards both in Israel and around the world. Michal also teaches scriptwriting at Tel Aviv University and at the Beit Berl Academic College. BARASH is her first feature film.
