exground filmfest’s competition programs have become an important forum for a whole generation of promising young filmmakers – due in no small part to our audience’s insatiable

appetite for works outside of the cinematic mainstream. At exground filmfest 29, both cash and non-cash prizes with a combined value of approximately EUR 20,000 will be awarded.

DAS BRETT
Competition for Best Film in the "Made in Germany" series

This year we will be presenting a new award – and in fact it will be the first honour ever of its kind, in the world, bestowed by a jury composed of inmates from a correctional facility. The award is endowed with a minimum of EUR 1,000 and made possible with the generous support of "Die WERFT – Kulturbühne in der JVA Wiesbaden" (a cultural platform in Wiesbaden’s correctional facility).
