MANENÉ
by Maité Delcourt and Christoph Lemmen Germany 2009 Digital Betacam 58 min. Span. OV Engl. ST
A three day-travel from Panama City near the Colombian border the indigenous village Manené lies deep in the rainforest. Their culture, based on oral tradition, is fading. Two Emberá men, having grown up outside the village, recollect their roots as "Indians" and try to save the culture for future generations. They start a film project in order to record traditions.
This unusual documentary shines a new light on the discrepancies between traditional life and modern civilization. A filmic journey into a closed world, unknown to us.
