Biography: Alejandro Jodorowsky, born 1929 in Tocopilla/Chile, left 1953 for Paris to study pantomime and joining the mime troupe of Decroux’s student Marcel Marceau. Jodorowsky established his reputation as a cult director with EL TOPO (1970), MONTA SACRA (1973), and SANTA SANGRA (1989). Jodorowsky’s non-conformist, multidisciplinary work has generated a true cult-following by way of its symbolical, philosophical and esoteric depth. At age 87, his career overflows with the kind of iconoclastic imagery that questions, modifies and pushes forward our perception of art.
