Unmarried director Pen-Ek Ratanaruang was shocked, asking married couples about happiness. Bad habits instead of deep love – covertly smoked cigarettes, silent evenings in front of the tv, sexual wasteland, superficial affairs. This is his film about the reasons for this misery: living in the US, a funeral brings Wit and Dang back to Bangkok. In the hotel Wit meets 19-year old Ploy. He offers her to take a shower and rest in their suite. For alcoholic and neurotically jealous Dang one more reason, to think over their unsound marriage. Somewhere in between dream and reality they escape – each on their own – the jail of married routine. Arranged like an intimate play, despite violent fantasies there’s no claustrophobia, on the contrary: the hotel becomes a maze full of secrets, like a highly erotic affair between a barman and a chambermaid, who agreed to a forbidden meeting in a suite.
