The contest for the best short film from Wiesbaden takes place for the fourth time. Ten films from directors or producers either born in Wiesbaden or living here have been selected. The program is part of the "Filmstadt Wiesbaden" initiative, in cooperation with the Cultural Offices of the State Capital Wiesbaden.
Again, the prize money of EUR 500 was sponsored by the Wiesbadener Kurier newspaper – exground filmfest’s local media partner – and will be awarded to the director whose film receives the most votes from the audience.
The award winner of the first Wiesbaden-Special – Short film contest in 2005, Stefan Müller’s MR. SCHWARTZ, MR. HAZEN & MR. HORLOCKER, received awards at numerous international festivals in 2006 – even at the International Film Festival in Cannes. 2006’s winner film, BENIDORM by Carolin Schmitz, won the German Short-Film award 2006 in the "Best Documentary" category, among other awards. In 2007, our audience could not make up its mind and so the award was split evenly between Michael Sommer’s ELVIS UND ICH and Daniel Seideneder’s TRUCK STOP GRILL.
ELVIS UND ICH became the short-film award winner of the Hessian film- and cinema award 2008. Daniel Seideneder is the director of this year’s exground filmfest trailer KINO, KINO and also a member of the professional Wiesbaden jury for the short film contest BETTING ON SHORTS, taking place for the first time.
This year’s winner of the Wiesbaden-Special – Short film contest will be announced in the course of the award cere mony for the German short film contest on November 23, 2008.
