An anatomical mistake is detected in dancer Li's body. The doctors are at a loss. A second heart has grown in her chest. Despite thorough examination the cause remains unclear. The deeper medicine dives into her body looking for explanations, the more Li questions being 'defectious'. Strikingly the film shows Li's emotional strain.
"It is one of the many controversial questions of modern society: where is the place of the individual in the area of conflict between ethics and technology? Comparing images from the microcosm of the body’s insides with those from the universe’s vastness, you find surprising similarities. While both are still quite mysterious. Biography: Lisa Krane, born in 1986 in Atlanta/USA, took up her studies at the Art College for Media in Cologne after prior studies of Arts & Design at the Canterbury University for Creative Arts. In 2011, she studied at the National Film and Television Institute in Accra/Ghana. THE UNIVERSE INSIDE OF US is her diploma film as well as her first short fiction film. Currently she lives and works in Hamburg.
