In a town on the French Riviera, detective Yvonne is the young widow of police chief Santi, a local hero. When she realizes her husband was not exactly the model of virtue so idolized by their young son, and that an innocent young man, Antoine, has spent eight years in prison as Santi’s scapegoat, she is thrown into turmoil. Yvonne wants to do everything she can to help this very charming Antoine get back to his life and his wife. Everything that is, except telling the truth. But Antoine is having trouble adjusting to life on the other side, to say the least, and soon blows a fuse leading to a spectacular sequence of events.

Director Pierre Salvadori (BEAUTIFUL LIES) places Audrey Tautou in front of the camera once again, combining what French cinema does best: tender romanticism, macabre situational comedy and adept cinematography unite to create brilliant comedy cinema that knows how to delight with its own special style.

Pierre Salvadori, born in 1964 in Tunisia, took acting lessons from Jacques Chabrier from 1981 to 1983 and attended film seminars at the Faculté de Jussieu in Paris. In 1993, he shot his first fiction feature, the black comedy WILD TARGET. Further works followed, including WHITE LIES (1998), AFTER YOU (2003), PRICELESS (2006) and BEAUTIFUL LIES (2010). Many of his films revolve around lovable and odd characters caught up in bizarre situations. THE TROUBLE WITH YOU premiered in 2018 at Cannes in the section “Quinzaine des Réalisateurs” and was honoured with the SACD Prize for best French-language film.
