An homage based on film excerpts: even after his death, Leonard Cohen is still considered one of the most influential composers and singers of our time. Alas, he is largely neglected as a film musician, although his music has been used to date in roughly 250 films from all around the world. With the help of striking examples, Urs Spörri will demonstrate the range of his film music. Directorial giants such as Rainer Werner Fassbinder and Quentin Tarantino built scenes around his songs. Following the lecture there will be a screening of a Cohen concert film.
