José Magro works as a director, and has won two best picture awards with THE JOURNEY (2012) and COMBUSTION OF PIGS (2013), his first fiction short films. This films have screened at film festivals in Portugal, Ireland, France, Switzerland, Finland and China. LETTERS FROM CHILDHOOD (2018) had its world premiere at Tampere International Film Festival, Finland. A RIVER THROUGH THE MOUNTAINS (2019), his last short film, shot in Hancheng/China, will now begin its distribution. He has also worked as director of photography with João Pedro Rodrigues, and João Rui Guerra da Mata; producer for Miguel Gonçalves Mendes, and Jorge Pelicano’s last films; and has been second assistant director of Manoel de Oliveira.
