THE KLEZMATICS
THE KLEZMATICS from New York are one of the best-known New-Klezmer bands. Their album “Wonder Wheel“, which set unknown Woody Guthrie lyrics to music, won a Grammy as best contemporary world music album in 2007. THE KLEZMATICS’ repertoire offers much more than traditional Klezmer. Their songs incorporate Hasidic mysticism, the pre-revolutionary Jewish-Russian workers movement, but also very wordly issues around love, drinking, and other worries. Concert of the month for some of us.
