[OHNE HALT]
by Eva Maschke
Germany 2007 Betacam SP 55 min. OV
Script: Eva Maschke, DoP: Eva Maschke, Production: Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg, with: Ansgar Spahr, Werner Osthoff, Benjamin Merkler
Today Germany sees the highest rate of new HIV infections over the past ten years. Experts estimate roughly 2,500 people in Cologne alone having contagioned with the virus causing AIDS. The number of unreported cases is estimated at at least the double. However, speaking openly about HIV is still one of the big taboos in society. With her documentary film ADRIFT (OHNE HALT) Eva Maschke’s camera follows two gay, HIV-positive men in Cologne over several months. In an unusual and intimate way she looks into their lives as well as the gay scene. Both talk about their lives with the infection and comment on taboo issues like sex and HIV and unsafe sex.
