The ultimate film of our "Festival Highlights" section. The No Wave Cinema evolved in New York in the late 1970s and the Cinema of Transgression – independent film by young filmmakers from the Lower East Side, inspired by the punk- and new-wave music of the time. The program of exground filmfest 1 had films by and with John Waters, Tommy Turner and Richard Kern, who talk about these wild times here and several films by Andy Warhol. Stars like Steve Buscemi, Jim Jarmusch, Debbie Harry, Susan Seidelman and John Waters as well as the underground icons Lydia Lunch, Beth B, Amos Poe, Casandra Stark, Nick Zedd, Richard Kern and many others remember the avantgarde hatchery. A declaration of love to downtown Manhattan and an homage to the avantgarde filmmakers of this time. A must for fans of independent cinema!
