Twelve films, among them many German premieres, are presented in 2010 in the International program. LES AMOURS IMAGINAIRES (HEARTBEATS), just recently decorated in Cannes, is a wonderful love story by young Canadian wunderkind Xavier Dolan (born in 1989). His sensational directorial debut J’AI TUÉ MA MERE (I KILLED MY MOTHER) runs in the contest of the exground youth days. On a more serious note, the second French-Canadian entry LES SIGNES VITEAUX (VITAL SIGNS) by Sophie Deraspe deals with a young woman who helps other people through their final days before death. In the Dutch film R U THERE by David Verbeek, a tournament gamer has to decide between computer game and reality. In the Icelandic comedy MAMMA GÓGÓ by Fridrik Thór Fridriksson, a film director is confronted with his mother’s Alzheimer disease. Norwegian film EN GANSKE SNILL MANN (A SOMEWHAT GENTLE MAN) by Hans Petter Moland is a wonderfully bizarre comedy starring an awesome Stellan Skarsgard. Iranian entry FRONTIER BLUES by Babak Jalali shows bizarre fates somewhere in the middle of nowhere. CRYING WITH LAUGHTER by Justin Molotnikov from Great Britain is a powerful low-budget thriller about a choleric stand-up comedian. The two Russian films PYATNITSA.12 (FRIDAY.12) by Wladimir Sajkin and YA (I AM) by Igor Voloshin are totally manic as well. Punk in Australia is the subject of DOGS IN SPACE, starring "INXS" singer Michael Hutchence, and also of documentary WE’RE LIVING ON DOG FOOD, both by Richard Max Lowenstein. A must for cineasts with a culinary sense is EL BULLI, HISTORIA DE UN SUEÑO (EL BULLI, HISTORY OF A DREAM) by David Pujol, about the world-famous restaurant of genius chef Ferrán Adriá.
